The Riverside Dickens Festival is a regional educational non-profit corporation that provides educational, family oriented, literary entertainment and activities such as plays, dramatic and musical performances, pageants, living history presentations, workshops, lectures, classroom study, exhibits and a street bazaar with free entertainment, vendors, and costumed characters.

Below are three requests for proposals for performers for the 2008 Riverside Dickens Festival.  Deadline is August 15.

Five Things to Consider when Submitting News

I’ve been maintaining the Inland Theatre League Web site now for almost three years - 18 months in its current form.  During this time, I have come up with a short list of “tips” for publicity people to consider when they submit material for the site.  I have to admit, the list is pretty self-centered as it makes my job easier.  However, I share it because I think it is helpful for people who are just getting started writing releases for their organization. Fontana Mummers forms youth theater group

The Fontana Mummers Inc. is proud to announce a new theatre group:  Inland Youth Performers.  The Inland Youth Performers will hold their first summer program and, over the next year, will be performing for schools, special production for the community, as well as producing and directing youth shows as part of the Fontana Mummers season.  Additional information can be obtained by contacting Beth Hauff, Executive Director of the Inland Youth Performers, at 909-822-4052.

Musical Theater Day Camp for Kids

The University of Redlands announces the third annual Summer Musical Theater Day Camp were students (ages 6-14) will explore the basic concepts of musical theater. Participants will be introduced to the essentials of voice, drama, make-up, costuming, scenic design, puppetry, and the life and masterful heritage of Frederick Loewe the composer that helped shape American Musical Theater forever. Classes are designed to encourage expressive imagination, creative thinking, self-confidence, and team-work.

The Camp will consist of 25 hours lessons interactive involvement as the program culminates in the musical production The Magic Wand performed on Friday, June 29, 2007, at 1:30pm. (Read on …)

Master Voice Class hosted by Riverside Youth Theatre

Musical theatre students will sing and receive coaching from Tammy Flanders during a voice master class on Friday, April 13. The event is scheduled from 3:00-6:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church, Back Building, 3624 Arlington Avenue, Riverside and hosted by Riverside Youth Theatre.

Reservations are required to attend the Master Voice Class.  Student registration fee is $20 and is open to the students from 8-20 years.  Students will be asked to prepare and present one memorized song. Each participant should do some vocal warm-ups before the class. Please dress for freedom of motion. An accompanist will be provided. (Read on …)

In Memoriam: Dr. Ralph Andrews

Dr. Ralph Andrews died on Saturday morning, December 30.  He will be greatly missed.

Ralph was one the original ITL judges and served faithfully for over thirty years, viewing 40-50 productions annually.  Dr. Andrews served in the military, was an educator, excellent instrumentalist (flute), and newspaper reviewer of the arts.

His wife, Frances Scoggin, was with him and his passing was peaceful and without pain.

Riverside Youth Theatre presents Student Makeup Seminar

Riverside Youth Theatre will present a seminar for students, “How to Apply Stage Makeup,” on Saturday, October 28, from 10 AM to Noon at the Fellowship Baptist Church, Back Building, 3624 Arlington Avenue, Riverside (between the 91 Freeway and Brockton Avenue).

Register for Fall Classes at CAT Corona

CAT of Corona (Christian Arts and Theater) is pleased to announce that registration for their fall classes is now open.  CAT is offering 12 classes in all aspects of performing arts including core classes in acting, singing, and dancing as well as advanced classes such as hip hop and jazz, and a History of Theater class.  A drawing and painting class is also available.  Classes are open to children ages 6 - 18.  CAT is also offering classes for adults this session: Beginning Tap and Intro to Theater.
