About the Play: Souvenir
Temperley’s two-person play is based on the true life story of Florence Foster Jenkins, an unfortunately terrible soprano, and her mediocre pianist, Cosme McMoon. The unlikely duo team up for over ten years, and their hilariously horrible recitals become the talk of New York, culminating with a sold out show in Carnegie Hall. Regarding the name of the show, Jenkins remarked after listening to her recording of the Queen of the Night aria that when her voice was
no longer strong, the record would make a “great souvenir.”

“There weren’t many voices as bad as Jenkins’. There aren’t many theatrical experiences as good as SOUVENIR.” —Boston Globe.
