Chino Community Theatre is holding auditions for STOP KISS, written by Diana Son and directed by Caitlin Lopez.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, March 26 at 6 pm and Monday, March 27 at 7 pm at the Seventh Street Theatre (13123 Seventh Street, Chino). Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. All roles are open. There is no pay.
STOP KISS will be performed as part of CCT’s “3 on the Edge” Festival (May 25 through June 11, 2017), in repertory with two other shows, ART and BOY GETS GIRL. Auditions for those shows will be held at the same time as STOP KISS and those auditioning may read for all three if desired. Rehearsals will generally be Monday through Thursday evenings. A more detailed rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions.
STOP KISS performance dates: May 27 & June 11 at 2:30 pm; June 1, 3 & 9 at 8 pm.
Callie is a traffic reporter in New York City who meets Sara, a teacher and recent transplant from St. Louis, and the two become fast friends. When Callie and Sara unexpectedly fall in love, their first kiss provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate.
CALLIE (Lead): Female, 25-38
Cynical, messy party girl who falls in love with Sara.
SARA (Lead): Female, 21 – 35
A sheltered, good-natured schoolteacher who falls in love with Callie.
GEORGE (Supporting): Male, 25 – 40
Attractive and sweet, Callie’s “friend with benefits.”
PETER (Supporting): Male, 25 – 35
Sara’s ex, a kind, overly caring businessman. Objects to Sara’s relationship with Callie.
MRS. WINSLEY / NURSE (Supporting): Female, 40 – 70
Mrs. Winsley is an older and wiser woman, a loud, outspoken neighbor. The Nurse is smart, capable, strong and teaches Callie to care for Sara after the attack. One actor will play both roles.
DETECTIVE COLE (Supporting): Male or Female, 30 – 50
A tough and cynical police detective.
