CAST Players of Beaumont is pleased to offer two holiday one-act plays; written and directed by Annette Tringham.

In All I Need For Christmas, the employees of the Emotional Helpline have persuaded Thomas Wellmore, a self-centered yuppie to volunteer on Christmas Eve to man the phones. As the evening wears on and no one calls, he becomes increasingly irritated and his true character is revealed. At midnight, a cleaning woman enters with her young son, Christopher, and through interaction with this mysterious child, Thomas is forced to examine himself; learning what is really important in life. Eleven year old Benjamin Taylor portrays the relentlessly questioning child; perfectly balancing the selfishness of Thomas, played with charm and smarm by Alex Warren. The Helpline employees, played by Debbie Cochran, Stephanie Parshall and Susan O’Connell are integral characters in both of the plays; tying them together.

The second play, Auld Lang Syne explores old acquaintances and new resolutions when Bernie, played by Jim Dieli, comes to the Helpline office on New Years Eve to find his college sweetheart more than 40 years later. It’s out with old, in with the new in this lighthearted look at love and change at any age.

Performances are Sundays Dec 4, 11, and 18 at 3pm; Fridays and Saturdays, Dec 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 8pm; There will be special entertainment and treats for the audience at the opening matinee on December 4. Performances held at the Beaumont Woman’s Club, 306 E. Sixth Street in Beaumont. The cost is $10 and seats are reserved by calling 951-315-4253 or visit www.castplayers.org for info.

The holiday season is almost here, and The Grove Theatre is presenting A Wonderful Life – A Radio-on-Stage Show, starring a Grove favorite, Ken DeShan as George Bailey.

Everyone’s favorite holiday movie comes to the stage in this unique re-telling of a Christmas classic. It’s Christmas Eve – at a run-down radio station in middle America – a small group of radio performers are presenting Frank Capra’s holiday fable. Enjoy a behind the scenes look at live radio theatre and re-visit this heart-warming story about the value of every human life. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940′s radio broadcast. Faced with a grave decision on Christmas Eve, George discovers, with the help his guardian angel, what the world would be like if he had never been born. This touching production takes a cue from the classic dramas of radio’s golden age, presenting the story live on stage as if it were an actual 1940′s radio show. This classic holiday show brings the beloved Frank Capra film to life before your very eyes (and ears) via the magic of stage (and radio).

Performances are on weekends beginning Friday, December 2nd, and ending Saturday, December 17th. Tickets are $20 and $15 with senior and group discounts available. In this economy, we want everyone to be able to see this wonderful holiday show. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at (909) 920-4343, or by visiting The Grove’s website at http://www.grovetheatre.com.

Stratford Players presents Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas!, based on Robert Fulghum’s All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten.

Through song and story, Uh-Oh takes a funny and often poignant look at the struggle to find the spirit of the holidays amid the avalanche of commercialism, stress, and chaos.  The stories include a tale about a small boy who comes trick-or-treating in a cheap Santa mask a few days before Christmas; musings about a love/hate relationship with the vibrant poinsettia that arrives in homes every December and hangs on and on and on; and a tribute to nature’s precious annual gift of rebirth.
