Arthur is a successful mystery writer, his latest work has oddly turned into a vivid and adulterous romance. Family and friends marvel at the truthfulness of the work, especially since it is inconceivable that he could have had such an affair. Enter a woman intent on blackmail with an airtight story. When she turns up dead, the evidence incriminates Arthur. A cunning, deceitful conspiracy to do him in appears to be afoot. (Read on …)

Bored by his mundane life, Henry Flemming (Robert Ciresi), sells his lucrative brokerage firm to become a private detective — a profession fraught with dangers and perils that has his wife, Karen (Raelene Fulford), questioning her husband’s reasoning, especially when their living room starts resembling a local morgue as bodies start piling up—including that of her father, Walter Larsen (Eric Gruenler)!  Thrown into this fray are the Flemmings’ wacky neighbors, Stan and Suzy Spencer (Michael Truelock and Catherine Sadlier).  Stan Spencer, a psychiatrist with an abrasive manner that alienates everyone he meets, vainly tries his best to analyze Henry Flemming while his wife is content making cocktails. San Bernardino Valley College Theatre Arts Department presents the Tony Award winning musical Urinetown!  A 20 year drought has hit and people must pay to use the bathroom. How much are you willing to pay?

One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! (Read on …)

Riverside Youth Theatre starts off its 12th season with two contemporary musicals presented in repertory:  Into the Woods and Into the Woods Junior.

Into the Woods Junior is a One Act version of the Broadway musical, is rated G and is 1 ½ hours in length.  Into the Woods Junior is a cockeyed fairy tale where all of your favorite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (from the beanstalk) and The Witch – meet and interact in the Woods.  Into the Woods Junior is a funny and engaging way to get young performers to think about the stories which they’ve grown up with and the ethical issues raised in them.  The Junior cast features students from 6-12 years and is directed by high school students, Hannah Wolgemuth and Audrey Cella.
Both musicals will be performed at CrossWinds Theatre, 29263 Ironwood Avenue in Moreno Valley.  Tickets range from $7-$15.  Tickets purchased through the theatre’s website, www.RiversideYouthTheatre.org are discounted.  Seating is not reserved and doors will be opened 30 minutes before each performance.

Riverside Youth Theatre starts off its 12th season with two contemporary musicals presented in repertory:  Into the Woods and Into the Woods Junior.

Into the Woods is a two act Broadway musical, rated PG, one of Stephen Sondheim’s most popular and timeless contemporary works.  This is a fractured fairy tale with an ambivalent Cinderella, a blood-thirsty Little Red Riding Hood and a Witch who raps.  When a Baker and his Wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a desperate quest to obtain the special objects required to break the spell.  All the fairy tale character’s wishes are granted at the end of Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, some with disastrous results.  Into the Woods is a lively fantasy in the style of “The Princess Bride” which serves as a lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.  Our cast features students from 12-20 years with direction by Debbie Wolgemuth and Music Direction by Sarah Horn.
