Redlands Footlighters will open the 2011-2012 Season with You Can’t Take It With You, the classic comedy from Moss Hart and George Kaufman, directed by Tom Hurst, on Thursday, September 8 at 8:00pm at the Footlighters Theater, 1810 Barton Road, in Redlands.
The play will run for three consecutive weekends closing on Sunday, September 25. Performances begin at 8:00pm Fridays and Saturdays, 2:00pm on Sundays with an additional matinee on the final Saturday. Call the box office at 909-793-2909 for tickets. Cost is $15.00, $10.00 for students.
Tony Kirby, the son of a successful businessman, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home– a home with a fireworks factory in the basement, a printing press and a terrarium with snakes in the parlor, an ex-grand Duchess earning her living as a waitress, and a grandfather who doesn’t believe in the income tax. At first, the Sycamore family seems mad. But if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder! The play was the winner of the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
