Disney’s musical Alice in Wonderland opens at Yucaipa Little Theatre on Thursday, August 19. This very special production has been designed to be a workshop for many first-time performers in the young cast.
“We brought in a variety of teachers to introduce the cast to different aspects of the theatre,” said director Christine Presley. “The kids learned everything from basic terminology and secrets for successful auditions to improv, stage presence, costuming, stage make-up and more. But more than that, they’ve had fun learning about live theatre.”
Throughout the show, Alice changes sizes as she shrinks and grows in Wonderland so Presley cast several girls to play the lead. Those in the role include Maddison Garner, Kristen Lungstrum, Destiny Ayala, Laura Johnson and Sarah Smith. The Mad Hatter is played by Tobias Walnofer. The March Hare is played by Brenden Hampton. The White Rabbit is played by Drew Nunez and McKenna Palmer. Rounding out the cast are Mary-Kate Nunez, Madison Spitzer, Daisy Dubols, Delaney Walnofer, Kaelee England, Kire Hawley-Zechlin, Theodore Kantzalis, Symphony Rodriguez, Brezzy Cook, Zoe Parker, Brenda Robles, Lauren Heitman and Victoria Morales.
The show runs just two weekends so reservations are recommended. The show will be at 7:30 pm on Aug. 19, 20, 21, 27 and 28. Sunday matinees on Aug. 22 and 29 will be at 3:30 pm. Tickets are $10 each, $8 each for seniors, students and children, $25 for families and $6 each for groups of 8 or more.
