Play With Your Food Productions presents the bitter sweet, timely comedy called The Clean House.

Lane, a high powered doctor, in her 50′s, hires a Brazilian, Mathilde, to clean the house she shares with her husband, also a doctor. Mathilde is depressed from the recent deaths of her two parents, who she describes as the “funniest people in Brazil”. Her mother died laughing from a joke her father told: afterward, he shot himself. So, Mathilde came to America to clean houses. As it turns out, she doesn’t like to clean. But…..Lane’s sister, Virginia, loves to. So, Virginia cleans, Mathilde thinks up jokes, and together they find out, via a pair of sexy black panties among the newly washed clothes, that Lane’s husband, Charles, is cheating on her.

This poignant, but funny play shows us how much we can understand with our hearts and spirit that we may not understand with our intelligence.

Sarah Ruhl, the playwright, won the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn award for The Clean House in 2004. The Clean House was a 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist.

This show will not be in our usual Lunch or Dinner Theatre, but rather as Dessert Theatre, with an array of tempting desserts on each table along with beverages. You may bring your own wine.
