Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre, a program of The City of Rancho Cucamonga’s Community Services Department, will hold two days of auditions to cast its April 2010 production of everyone’s favorite 50’s musical, Grease.

All roles are open and open call audition (with no appointment required) will be held at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center located at 12505 Cultural Center Drive in Rancho Cucamonga on either Monday, February 22 or Tuesday, February 23rd at 6:30 pm.  All those wishing to audition should come prepared to sing 16 bars of music from a 50’s pop song or a Broadway show tune (please bring your own sheet music). Grease celebrates, in song and dance, the trials and tribulations of ten teens at the fictional Rydell High School in the 1950’s. It is one of the longest running Broadway shows in theatrical history. The popular musical was later made into a movie with a star-studded cast headed by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. The film version was the highest grossing film of the 1970’s.  The show includes musical hits such as “Summer Nights,” “Freddie My Love,” “We Go Together,” “Born To Hand Jive” and “Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee.”

This production will be directed by Mark Gamez who is familiar to local Inland Theatre audience as a performer at several local venues. Mr. Gamez was also the Director and Chorographer for RCCT’s ITL Award-winning, Smokey Joes Café in 2008 as well as the past two Spotlight on the RC Talent Showcases. He will be assisted by Hope Kaufman.  Musical Director is Ronda Rubio, who has conducted and/or directed several RCCT productions including Oliver and Smokey Joe’s Café.

Performances of Grease will be April 9-18, 2010.  Tickets are currently on sale at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center box office located at 12505 Cultural Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga or online at http://www.lewisfamilyplayhouse.com/ for $16.50 general admission or $14.50 students/seniors.
