Hot off the heels of the recent 2006 Broadway revival comes a high-energy musical that boasts Bob Fosse inspired dance numbers for a must-see, fast-paced production.  With the combined talents of Director Martin Lang, Musical Director Daniel Thomas and Choreographer Orlando Alexander, The Pajama Game comes to life just in time to kick of a great date night for Valentine’s Day.

“It’s the most anticipated show of our 2010 Season,” shares Assistant Producer Mindy Teuber of the Candlelight Pavilion.  “Among our loyal season ticket holders, The Pajama Game is the number one seller not to mention one of the most requested shows” Teuber continues.  “Its exuberance and spontaneity make the entire theater crackle with energy,” says Variety.  “Hilarious and exciting,” states NY Magazine.  “The Pajama Game jumps with joy,” continues USA Today.

Based on the novel 7 ½ Cents by Richard Bissell, The Pajama Game tells the story of Babe, a feisty employee who finds a competitive counterpart in Sid, the pajama shop superintendent.  Sparks fly between Babe and Sid when demands over a seven-and-a-half-cents-per-hour raise occur.  Despite their love, Babe warns Sid that the turmoil between the union and the management will cause problems, and Sid has to juggle his job, his heart and his conscience to find a solution that will solve it all… hopefully!

The Pavilion’s production features a fantastic cast including John LaLonde (Sid), Leslie Scott (Babe), Danny Michaels (Hines), Duane Thomas (Pop), Michael Hill (Hassler), Kai Chubb (Gladys), Beth Mendoza (Mable), Jenny Strattan (Mae) and Daniel Thomas (Prez).  Not to be forgotten, the talented ensemble cast consists of Whitney Ackerman, Andrea Aron, Zaylin Cano, Brandon Heitkamp, Kevin Holmquist, Dani Kerry, Allison Knight, Frankie Marrone, Melodie Slaughter and Mark Velarde.

The Pajama Game is the winner of two Tony® Awards in 2006 for Best Revival of a Musical and Best Choreography, seven Drama Desk Award nominations, as well as eight Outer Critics Circle Award nominations.  The original 1954 production of The Pajama Game was the winner of three 1955 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, Choreography and Featured Actress in a Musical. At the height of the Golden Age of Musical, a film version starring Doris Day, John Raitt, Eddie Foy Jr. and Carol Haney was released.  The film launched the career of well-know dancer and actress Shirley MacLaine, who had been Haney’s understudy in the on-stage production.
Before it’s third revival in 2006 starring Harry Connick Jr. and Kelli O’Hara which took Broadway by storm with a sold out, smash hit run, earning two Tony® Award wins and nine nominations, The Pajama Game was revived in 1973 with a star-studded cast including Hal Linden, Barbara McNair and Cab Calloway.
