The Grove Theatre is proud to announce the opening of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Friday, March 5th.

It takes place on a hot sticky summer in the Mississippi Delta. The wealthy Pollitt family has gathered to celebrate patriarch Big Daddy’s 65th birthday.

But below the surface, turbulent emotions are brewing. What Big Daddy and Big Mama don’t yet know is that this will be Big Daddy’s last birthday – he is dying of cancer. Their eldest son, Gooper and his wife, Mae, are scheming to get younger son, Brick, cut out of the inheritance. Brick, an ex-footballer, has taken to drink since the death of his best friend, Skipper. Brick is estranged from his beautiful wife, Maggie, who is fighting tooth and nail to win back his love, and wants to become or at least announce that she is pregnant by Brick, hoping to make Big Daddy happy before he dies.

A layer of mendacity – of lies – has built up over the family’s disappointments and insecurities. Who is going to be bold enough to start telling the truth now? Is there enough love left to save?

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is an “interplay of live human beings in the thundercloud of a common crisis” (T. Williams).

Performances begin Friday, Match 5th, and end Saturday, March 21st. Tickets are $25 and $20 with senior and group discounts available. In this economy, we want everyone to be able to see this fun classic show. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at (909) 920-4343, or by visiting The Grove’s website at http://www.grovetheatre.com/.

Seniors Of The Sahara is a delight! Written by Barbra Pease Weber and Directed by John Lynd, Seniors Of The Sahara is a magical comedy that will have you rolling with laughter! Filled with twists and turns — this is a “must see” production!

Sylvia Goldberg, a respectable retired New Jersey school teacher, brings home more than just souvenirs upon returning from her grandson’s wedding in Israel. Sylvie’s troubles begin when she realizes that the old teapot she purchased at an outdoor market is actually a priceless relic containing a geriatric genie “Eugene” with a bad back and a penchant for vodka and V8. Keeping Eugene a secret from her three best friends, Mabel, Thelma and Fannie, proves to be nearly as difficult as protecting herself from Eugene’s former master who follows Sylvie home and threatens her at knife point. Be careful what you wish for Sylvie Goldberg! You never know, it might come true. Seniors of the Sahara is a magical romantic comedy for seniors and “juniors” of all ages.

Board member says, “How exciting to see so much talent on stage. People have come together from all over the Inland Empire to produce such an exhilarating thing — live theater.  It is wonderful that Rialto Community Players provides a fun place for artistic juices to flow.
