Certainly every country music fan knows Patsy Cline as a phenomenal singer who pioneered the rise of female country stars. More importantly, at a time when country and pop music were a twain that almost never met, Patsy was the first female country singer to achieve a pop hit in Walkin’ After Midnight, the first of many crossover successes. Music fans of every persuasion were captivated by the astonishing liquidity and richness of Patsy’s voice. Patsy was the youngest inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame, honored the year she would have been only 41 years old. And everybody knows that Patsy Cline is a part of the list of young vibrant performers taken from the world too soon by a tragic accident. Since her 1963 death at the age of 30, in a plane crash, Patsy Cline’s memory and talent have been revered by lovers of music everywhere.
More than forty five years after her death, there is finally an opportunity for fans to experience the magic of a live performance, if not by Patsy Cline herself, by a singer/actress endowed with the wonderful ability to bring her to life. Performing from January 8 – February 7 at the Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater is the artfully forged and carefully cast stage production Always…Patsy Cline.
Back by popular demand is the story of country music star Patsy Cline. Always…Patsy Cline stars Lisa Layne in her reprise role and Candlelight favorite Beth Mendoza as Louise. All of Patsy Cline’s hits, Crazy, Walkin’ After Midnight, She’s Got You, Sweet Dreams, I Fall to Pieces and 22 other Cline tunes, are performed live by Lisa Layne, accompanied by a live band.
Layne began singing professionally at the age of four. She started her own country band just after graduation from high school, singing and playing bass. Layne joined “Vince Vance and the Valiants,” traveling and performing across the country with this group until 1989 when she recorded with VVV in Nashville, TN what has become the most requested Christmas song of all time, “All I want for Christmas is You.”
She signed with CCR records in Nashville, and still travels the country performing as Patsy Cline in productions of both Always…Patsy Cline and A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline for over a decade. Lisa has performed concerts nationwide in numerous country, variety and legend shows.
