Auditions for Chino Community Theatre’s holiday production of Heavens to Benjamin, an original musical by Howard and Pamela Wilson and directed by Paul Larson, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 11 at Seventh Street Theatre, 13123 Seventh St. in Chino.

Yucaipa Little Theatre is well-known for tackling big shows with professionalism and talent, and their upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim’s acclaimed musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is no exception. Opening night is Thursday, October 8, and is expected to sell out.

The show will run three weekends, starting Thursday, October 8 until October 25. Evening performances are at 7:30 pm on October 8, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24. Matinee shows are at 3:30 pm on October 11, 18 and 25. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for senior, students, and children. Family tickets are $25, and groups of eight or more may purchase tickets for $6 each. Norman and Ethyl Thayer revisit their family vacation home for one last summer on Golden Pond. Norman’s morbid yet humorous preoccupation with his own death is diffused by Ethel’s zest for life and the love she has for her husband. When the couple’s estranged daughter Chelsea shows up, ghosts from the past shadow the summer days on the lake, but an unexpected guest helps remind Norman that there is still live to be lived. Humor and tenderness weave a warm summer tale.

Sherwood Forest comes to life as Robin Hood joins forces with his band of men to fight oppression, greed and treachery.  Share the adventure and witness a stunning battle between virtue and avarice as the kingdom hangs in the balance.

Performances begin Saturday, October 3, at 7:30 PM and will continue on weekends through November 8, 2009.  Performances are Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2:15 PM (except Opening Night) and 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 2:15 PM.  In addition to the weekend performances, there will be a special Thursday performance on November 5, 2009 at 7:30 PM.  The evening performance on Saturday, October 17th  will also feature an interpreted presentation for the hearing impaired.

Advance ticket prices are $14 or $18 for adults and $7 or $9 for children ages 3-11 (no children under 3 are admitted) and can be purchased over the phone with a Visa or MasterCard by calling 335-3037, ext. 21.  Checks can also be mailed to LifeHouse, provided reservations are made far enough in advance.  Tickets may also be purchased in person at the box office, which is open Fridays from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and one hour prior to and during show times on the weekends.  Tickets are $1 more the day of the performance.  Group rates are available for groups of ten or more.  Guests are encouraged to reserve seats early as many performances sell out.

Redlands Footlighters opens the season with Funny Money, written by Ray Cooney and directed by Mark Allen-Everett.  Enjoy an evening of laughter by the same playwright who brought you Run For Your Wife, Caught in the Net, and Tom, Dick and Harry

Henry A. Perkins, a nervous C.P.A., accidently picks up the wrong briefcase – one full of money.  After counting the money in the restroom of a bar, Henry rushes home to his wife, eager to leave the country before the real owner of the briefcase finds him.  The couple’s packing is interrupted by two police officers: one who believes Henry was soliciting in the men’s room and another who thinks Henry is dead after finding a body in the Thames.

Opening night 8:00pm followed by a reception;  Friday and Saturday nights 8:00pm;  Sunday matinees 2:00pm.
