The Temecula Valley Players opened their season Thursday, August 20, with a rousing performance of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Talented young director, Jeremy Scott Lapp, has created a wonderful rendition of a Broadway play drawn from the acclaimed 1954 movie musical. The choreography by Gary Iversen is at once aggressive and athletic while equally playful and exuberant. Taylor Peckham, the show’s immensely gifted conductor ranks as the youngest musical director and vocal coach in memory. Leading a live orchestra of excellent musicians, Taylor is a man-child of eighteen who wields his masterful baton from the orchestra pit with more sensitivity and control than musicians far older and grayer.

The exceptionally entertaining cast, led by the indomitable Paul Kehler and the charming Kellen Allen, all bring highly trained voices, formidable dance skills and sparkling personalities to the Old Town Temecula Community Theater. Located in the historic heart of an Old West village, this beautiful theater is the City of Temecula’s $14 million contribution to the arts in Southwest Riverside County.
The theater company has just announced their first season ticket package in its 25 year history, along with its best season. Following Seven Brides, Temecula Valley Players will present Arsenic and Old Lace, Scrooge the Musical, Rumors, and To Kill a Mockingbird. The season will close with the fabulously successful Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway musical, Rent. TVP is one of the first community theatre companies in the country to secure the rights to perform the full Broadway version of Rent; only the school version has been released for wide distribution until now.
