The Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre announces auditions for Oliver!, the RC Summer Family Musical Spectacular 2009.

Auditions are to be held for children ages 8-17 on Saturday, May 9th, at 10 am. All those in this age group should come prepared to learn a short song and dance routine.  No additional preparation is required.

Adults 18 and over may make an audition appointment for Tuesday, May 12th, starting at 6:30 pm.  Adults only may call for their May 12th audition appointment to 909-477-2775 ext. 3736.  All adults who audition should come prepared with 16 bars of music (with accompanying sheet music) from a pop or Broadway up tempo number.

All those cast will become RCCT members at $50 per membership and an additional $20 participation fee will be required of those cast who are ages 8-17.

Oliver! is a musical based on the book, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Oliver is a young orphan in a large workhouse who draws a great deal of attention to himself when he asks for more at the dinner table. No one likes a greedy orphan, so Oliver finds himself sold to an undertaker. He runs away, and is taken in by a group of pickpockets who try to teach the innocent boy to be a thief. Eventually he escapes from the clutches of the crime ring and finds love, happiness, and a home. Music and lyrics are written by Lionel Bart.
