Theatrical Arts International is presenting The Diary of Anne Frank Saturday April 4th at 2:00 and 8:00pm.

Hailed as “a new adaptation for a new generation,” this classic, true story comes to life in a major theatrical event. When the Frank family goes into hiding to escape the Nazi persecution of Jews in 1940s Amsterdam young Anne records the laughter, grief, hope and fears of their two-year confinement in her diary. The Diary of Anne Frank won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award® for Best Play and the Critics Circle Award.

A farce, a medieval romance and a philosophical comedy rolled into one delightful romp! In 470 A.D., England’s King Ambrose sends his rambunctious army on a mission to Ireland to gather mammoth rocks, known as the Giant’s Dance. At home, while the Queen and Druid Priest arrange celebratory human sacrifices, a Roman Christian prisoner becomes the Princess’ bodyguard, and promptly falls in love! Overseeing all the mayhem is Merlin, whose timely magical intervention unites the lovers, punishes the evildoers and makes clear the folly of war.

Theater Camp in Loma Linda

Stars of Tomorrow Children’s Theater is pleased to announce another camp at Loma Linda University Churcl April 13-30 (Mon. – Thurs.) from 3pm to 6pm.  Tuition is $250 per student. Peformance: May 2, 2009. The performance of the children will be broadcasted live.

There is only one problem, Denny discovers his wife and child are attending the very concert that is in the crosshairs of the deadly Steam. The Riverside Community College Theatre Department presents William Shakespeare’s hilarious comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Landis Performing Arts Center on the Riverside City Campus. 

This magical play, set in San Francisco during the great ‘summer of love’, is directed by David Wayne Nelson.  Enjoy an evening of Nob Hill swells, magical hippies, and bumbling student radicals.  Performance dates are April 23, 24 and 25 at 8pm and April 25 and 26 at 2pm.  Tickets are available at the Landis Performing Center Box office by calling 951-222-8100.

Chino Community Theatre will hold auditions for The Fantasticks at 7 p.m. on March 30 and 31 at the theatre, 13123 Seventh Street in Chino.

A fairytale-esque  musical story of a pair of small town fathers who are scheming to bring their children together in a romance,  The Fantasticks explores the complications wrought by meddling and romance and ends up both mocking and celebrating love. The production is directed by Jenn McHugh, and all roles are open. Needed are six men and one woman. One role can be played by either gender.

The show runs May 22-Jue 6. To audition, prepare 16 bars of music, which can be presented a cappella or with recorded accompaniment. No pianist will be provided. For information visit www.chinocommunitytheatre.com.

Fontana Community Players seeks volunteers

Fontana Community Players is looking to fill the following volunteer tech positions for the upcoming production Give My Regards…A Broadway Musical Revue:

  • Lighting Director
  • Sound Director
  • Spotlight Operator
  • Stage Manager
  • Stagehand

Experience is not required for the stagehand and spotlight positions, but would be desired. Volunteers must be able to commit to 2 weeks of rehearsal starting April 6 (Mon-Thur from 7p-10p) and 2 weekends of shows, April 17-26 (Fri-Sun).

This position is unpaid, but those in need of community service hours will be credited for 80 hours.  Please respond via email, lindsayhenkenius@yahoo.com, or by phone, 909-510-1244, no later than March 28th.
