A new professionally produced theatre project, Broadway at the Gardens, will hold auditions at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center on Monday, December 8th, and Tuesday, December 9th, for the project’s inaugural production of Sweeney Todd.  Auditions are by appointment which can be made by calling 909-477-2775 extension 3736.

Broadway at the Gardens has been created by the City of Rancho Cucamonga to provide more sophisticated, somewhat edgier theatrical events geared more toward adults and the “date night” crowd.  The city currently has two other theatrical producing entities, Mainstreet Theatre Company and the Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre.  This new theatre project will mix local professional actors with the most talented “non-professional” local actors to create the highest level of theatrical entertainment.  The talented creative team is headed by veteran Director Gary Krinke, the winner of many Inland Theatre League awards, and Musical Director and Conductor David Lamoreaux leading the 18 piece live orchestra.

All roles are open as is the audition process, though advance appointments are required.  Those auditioning are asked to come prepared with 16 bars of an appropriate Sondheim song (from the show or not), a resume and a photo.  The first cast meeting will be held the evening of Sunday, December 14 and rehearsals will begin mid-January for the February 27th opening night.

Performances will be February 27-March 8, 2009.  Tickets are currently on sale at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center box office located at 12505 Cultural Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga or online at www.lewisfamilyplayhouse.com for $33.50 for adults and $31.50 for youth/senior.
