Chino Community Theatre will hold auditions for the classic comedy, The Philadelphia Story, directed by Toni Lynd from 10 a.m. til 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, and on Tuesday, January 13, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Seventh Street Theatre, located at 13123 Seventh Street in Chino.

Roles are available for men and women of all ages, plus one 12 year old girl. Cold reading will be required, scripts will be available. Performances are March 6-21.

LifeHouse Theater rings in the new year with the laughter, romance and suspense of Beauty and the Beast.  This popular original musical of the French fairy tale follows the adventures of the Beauty, Rose, as she discovers true love and the soulful secrets deep in the heart of the Beast.  Chester Drawers, Mr. Bristle the dancing broom, Madam Buffet the singing stove and a castle of quirky enchanted objects add hilariously comic moments.  At once witty, suspenseful and poignant, this award-winning musical enthralls audiences of all ages.

Performances begin Saturday, January 10, at 7:30 PM and will continue on weekends through February 15, 2009.  Performances are Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2:15 PM (except Opening Night) and 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 2:15 PM.  An additional Thursday evening performance will be offered on February 12th at 7:30 PM.  The 7:30 performance on Saturday, January 24th will also feature an interpreted presentation for the hearing impaired.

Advance ticket prices are $12 or $18 for adults and $6 or $9 for children ages 3-11 (no children under 3 are admitted) and can be purchased over the phone with a Visa or MasterCard by calling 335-3037, ext. 21.  Checks can also be mailed to LifeHouse, provided reservations are made far enough in advance.  Tickets may also be purchased in person at the box office, which is open Fridays from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and one hour prior to and during show times on the weekends.  Tickets are $1 more the day of the performance.  Group rates are available for groups of ten or more.  Guests are encouraged to reserve seats early as many performances sell out.

Redlands Footlighters is excited to present the classic thriller Gaslight, by Patrick Hamilton, January 15 to February 1, 2009.  Also known as Angel Street, Gaslight is a taut cat and mouse thriller that will be memorable to classic movie fans for the 1944 film of the same name starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer.

The play begins in the peaceful sitting room in the Manninghams’ home on Angel Street.  The calm is broken as we learn that the handsome Mr. Manningham is slowly torturing his wife Bella under the guise of kindness.  An unexpected caller, Inspector Rough from Scotland Yard attempts to restore Mrs. Manningham’s confidence and build up evidence against Mr. Manningham.

The Footlighters cast includes Ralph Griffey, Hannah le Roux, Eric Guenler, Vicki Janis, and Michelle Musser. It is directed by Tom Hurst.

Rockin’ in the New Year with Beehive: the 60s Musical

On January 9, The Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater kicks off the new year with Beehive:The 60s Musical. A high-energy musical revue celebrating the talents of female artists such as Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, The Chiffons and The Supremes.

The original stage presentation of Beehive was first presented in 1985 and ran for over 18 months Off-Broadway at the Village Gate Theatre in New York City. In 1988, Maverick Productions acquired the rights to direct and produce Beehive in Denver. The Denver production ran for 69-weeks and then toured nationally for 20-weeks including 13-weeks at Harrah’s Marina Hotel in Atlantic City.

The Candlelight Pavilion is proud to announce it’s work with Jubel Obien, the director and choreographer of the show.  “It’s such a fun show,” Obien shares, “and I can’t wait to see the audience singing and clapping along with these talented performers.”  New York Times rated this upbeat musical as “pure and irresistable fun” and People Magazine said it’s “a rafter raising musical” which can’t be missed.

Beehive: The 60s Musical will be accompanied by a gourmet dinner offering the patrons choices between steak, chicken, fish and vegetarian entrees. Beehive will run January 9 through February 15, 2009. Performances will include evening shows Thursdays through Sundays with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. Performance Riverside seeking set of male twins

In 1970, renowned writer-composer-lyricist Leslie Bricusse adapted the classic Charles Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol, into the hit screen musical “Scrooge!,” which was adapted again by Bricusse as a charming stage musical, Scrooge, the Musical, which has enjoyed a hugely successful tour of England and a season at London’s Dominion Theatre.

Yucaipa Little Theatre is located at 12135 California Street in Yucaipa.  Take Yucaipa Blvd off I-10, travel 5 miles east to California St., turn right and you’re there!

A Christmas Carol, based on the Charles Dickens classic and directed by John Lynd, will be presented at the Seventh Street Theatre, located at 13123 Seventh St. in Chino, December 5-20.

Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for students and seniors age 55 and over. Bring non-perishable food items or a new, non-gift wrapped toy to be donated to the Chino Neighborhood House. Box office: 590-1149.

A classic American story is brought to life on stage as LifeHouse Theater proudly presents the return of its original musical, Miracle on 34th Street.  New York City is turned upside down at Christmas when a department store Santa claims to be the real Saint Nick.  Faith itself goes on trial as authorities grapple with the true Spirit of the Season.

Fontana Community Players and the Inland Youth Performers are proud to present Stocking Stuffers by Geff Moyer.

What do you get when you combine classic holiday characters with human frailties – a smash hit that has them rolling in the aisle. These six wonderful holiday scenes use satire and comedy to reveal the meaning of Christmas.

Stocking Stuffers will hold a special production on December 7 at 2:30pm, where children can meet and have their photograph taken with Santa Claus after the show (for an additional fee).  Families may also use the holiday background for their photos as well (for an additional fee).

The Grove Theatre announces the opening of The Gifts of the Magi, taken from a short story written by O’Henry, on Friday, December 5th, at 7:29 pm. The production, which runs on weekends through December 20th, stars Dale Kristien, who starred as Christine in Phantom of the Opera, and Bill Hutton, who played the original Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Broadway.

Jim and Della Dillingham are a young couple who are very much in love with each other, but can barely afford their one-room apartment opposite the elevated train due to their very bad economic condition. For Christmas, Della decides to buy Jim a chain for his prized pocket watch given to him by his father. To raise the funds, she has her prized long hair cut off and sold to make a wig. Meanwhile, Jim decides to sell his watch to buy Della a beautiful set of combs for her lovely, knee-length hair. Although each is disappointed to find the gift they chose rendered useless, each is pleased with the gift they received, because it represents the other’s love for them. (Read on …)
