Auditions for Peter Pan at Performance Riverside

Performance Riverside announces open call auditions for professional non-union performers for the upcoming production of Peter Pan, with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne, based on the play by James M. Barrie. The production is directed by Gary Krinke, choreographed by John Vaughan and musically directed by Scott T. Smith.
Auditions for children will be held on Monday December 15 at 4pm and for adults at 7pm at Landis Performing Arts Center on the campus of Riverside City College. Performance pay is available.
Please prepare a song (16 bars) that shows your voice and personality. Wear clothes appropriate for moving and dancing. All persons who audition must bring a resume, headshot, and a 110 word biography with them. Weeknight and weekend rehearsals begin January 3, 2009.
Performances are January 30, 31, February 6, and 7 at 8pm, and January 31, February 1, 7, and 8 at 2pm at Landis Performing Arts Center. Come prepared to list any conflicts you have with the rehearsal schedule.
All roles are open. We are casting for the roles of:
- PETER PAN (Mezzo Soprano) – This part requires an actress who can play an adventurous, bold, egotistic, magical yet ultimately lonely young boy. Strong singing voice and stage presence a must. Should have strong dance, gymnastic or other athletic ability. This actor will be required to fly above the stage via a professional theatrical flying apparatus.
- CAPTAIN HOOK / MR. DARLING (Bass/Baritone) – Mature character actor with strong comic skills. Vain, fearsome, swashbuckling yet underachieving pirate with a flair for the dramatic and a festive air. Stage fighting skills required. Needs to be fit and move well on stage.
- WENDY – Teen to young adult female to play age 13-14. Needs to be a strong singer and speak in or learn an English accent. Must not be afraid of flying.
- JOHN – Middle school to high school aged male playing age 12. Needs to be a strong singer and be able to speak in or learn an English accent. Must not be afraid of flying.
- MICHAEL – Child actor playing age 7-8. Sweet, bubbly, likeable boy that is full of fun. Needs to sing well and be able to speak in or learn an English accent. Must not be afraid of flying.
- MRS. DARLING (Soprano) Playing age mid to late-30’s. Graceful, warm, and motherly. Needs be able to speak in or learn an English accent.
- LIZA THE MAID – Female dancer.
- SMEE – Hook’s right-hand man. Character actor with good comedic skills…ideally a physical contrast to Hook.
- THE LOST BOYS – Male, Grades 4 through Middle School. Need to have strong singing and speaking voices and ability to move. Should be disciplined young actors able to produce a strong ensemble feel. Ideally, we would like to find a set of twins for two of the roles.
- TIGER LILY- Leader of the Henny Penny Tribe. Needs to be a strong female dancer, and have a strong singing voice.
- HENNY PENNY TRIBE – Female dancers.
- THE PIRATES – Adult character males with good singing and movement skills. Need upper body strength.
- CROCODILE / NANA THE DOG – Physically demanding role. Needs to be fit and move well. Requires comedic timing.
- GROWN-UP WENDY- Adult female.
- JANE – Grown-up Wendy’s daughter. Should be about the age of the original Wendy.
