Guys and Dolls comes to the Candlelight

Filed under: Events — Administrator at 1:26 pm on Friday, September 26, 2008

Guys and Dolls is considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy with its entertaining and vivacious characters: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight “mission doll,” out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she’s been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancée, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating craps game.

Beginning October 3, the Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater will bring this beloved musical to the Inland Empire. (Read on …)

Performances are at Lakeside High School’s Rotary Performing Arts Center, 32592 Riverside Drive in Lake Elsinore. For tickets, please call Act One Theater Arts:  (951) 304-1010 or (800) 877-ACT1.

Rydell High’s spirited class of ‘59 includes gum chewing, hubcap stealing, hot rod loving boys and wise-cracking girls in bobby sox and pedal pushers.  While hip Danny Zuko and wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski resolve the problems of their mutual attraction, the gang sings and dances its way through such nostalgic scenes as the pajama party, the prom, the burger palace, and the drive-in movie.  Songs recall the Buddy Holly hiccups, the Little Richard yodels and the Elvis Presley wiggles that made the music of the 1950’s a gas!

Come enjoy this fun-filled show, filled with outrageous dance numbers and amazing harmonies.
