FTC Inland Theatre Works presents, in its first public reading, Wish of an Almost Widow, by Molly Gross.

In 1938, on the vast, dry farmland of Indiana, walls and dreams are under construction in a tattered farmhouse where Lily and Trevor are hoping to build a family. When the county Sheriff’s long-festering love for Lily mutates into jealous and possessive violence, he rapes her, not predicting Trevor’s vengeful attack that results in his death. One year later, Lily finally visits Trevor in prison on the morning of his execution, where their make-believe games aid in the denial of his fate. As time alternates between the past and present, secrets are revealed as to why Trevor and Lily made the decisions they did, but not all secrets will emerge, for as a husband approaches death, there may be certain things an almost-widow does not wish him to know.
