Auditions: A Little Night Music at Riverside Community Players

Riverside Community Players announces auditions for the Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Night Music. This production is a vocally demanding look at love and intertwined relationships and is arguably the most romantic of Sondheim’s musicals.
Auditions will be held at the theatre (4026 Fourteenth St., Riverside) on May 19th from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. and May 20th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. followed by callbacks from 8:30 – 10:00 p.m. Merrilee Drake is directing with Bill Wolfe, musical director. Auditioners must come prepared with sheet music for 16 bars of a Sondheim song and be prepared, if asked, to sing from the show. Auditions will consist of vocals (accompanist provided) and cold readings.

- Mr. Lindquist: age open, Baritone
- Mrs. Nordstrom: age open, 1st Soprano to a sustained high E
- Mrs. Anderssen: age open, 1st Soprano to a B flat
- Mr. Erlanson: age open, 1st Tenor to a B flat
- Mrs. Segstrom: age open, Alto or 2nd Soprano
(The quintet listed above are the backbone of the show both as a group and as soloists.)
- Fredrik: 45, Baritone or 2nd Tenor…to an E
- Carl Magnus: 35+, Baritone or 2nd Tenor…to an F
- Henrik: 20+, 1st Tenor, to a B (falsetto?)
- Anne: 18+, 1st or 2nd Soprano to an A
- Charlotte: 30+, Alto
- Petra: 20+, Alto
- Desiree: 40+, Alto, low E to an A flat Belt
- Madame Armfeldt: 60+, Low Alto, low D
- Fredrika: look young teen, 2nd Soprano to an E flat
The following roles can be carried by non-singers:
- Frid: Butler & Petra’s lover
- Malla: Desiree’s maid…singing preferable
- Bertrand: Butler
- Osa: Maid
