Stars of Tomorrow Children’s Theater is happy to announce their 2008 musical theater summer camp schedule.

  • Princess Jasmine and the Magic Lamp (at the University of Redlands)
    June 23 – June 27, (Mon – Fri) 9:30am – 2:30pm. Tuition $200.
  • Sinbad (at LifeHouse)
    June 30 – July 17, (Monday – Thursday) 3-6pm. Tuition $275
  • The Golden Scepter (at Heartland Players Theater in Yucaipa)
    July 7 – July 11, (Mon-Fri) 9:00am – 2:00pm. Tuition $200.
  • Sinbad Sails the 7 Seas (at The First Lutheran Church of Redlands)
    July 28 – August 8, (Mon- Fri) 9:00am – 12:30noon. Tuition $250
  • Robin Hood (at LifeHouse)
    August 4 -August 21, (Monday – Thursday) 3-6pm. Tuition $275

Theatre Arts Guild (TAG) will present the melodrama Dogsbreath Deveraux, The Dastardly Doctor at the High Desert Center for the Arts, located at 15615 8th Street in Victorville.

A dastardly doctor named Dogsbreath and a group of other extreme characters hold forth in this zany melodrama.  It’s a dime store plot that will have you giggling from curtain to curtain.  Join the TAG players and have a ball!

Redlands Footlighters will open the thriller Murder by Misadventure, written by Edward Taylor, on Thursday, March 6th. The production runs weekends through March 23rd – Friday and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00pm.

Despite success as mystery writers, Harold and Paul have had a falling out – two completely different life styles have caused a split in their working partnership.  When Paul threatens to blackmail Harold, a page is lifted from the script of their newest murder mystery film.

Murder by Misadventure, directed by Phillip Gabriel, the cast includes Travis Wilson as Paul Riggs; Gabriel as Harold Kent, Ginny Harmon as Emma Kent; and Buffy Guzenski as Inspector Egen.

The box office opens March 2nd for ticket reservations at (909) 793-2909.  All seats are reserved and are $14 with a student price of $10.   Group rates are also available upon request.  The theater is located at 1810 Barton Road, next to the Asistencia Mission.

CAT Corona will present the classic drama, The Wind in the Willows, directed by Daniel Monroe.

The unforgettable characters from Kenneth Grahame’s beloved classic spring to life in this sparkling Broadway musical adaptation. Mole, a curious girl who leaves her underground life for one adventure meets the kindly Water Rat who agrees to show her the world. That world includes the eccentric and wealthy Mr. Toad, whose outrageous enthusiasm for life, and especially for motor cars, brings trouble for everyone. The Wind in the Willows is a delightful tale about the surpassing value of friendship. Recommended for all ages.

Acting workshops continue at Redlands Footlighters

Actors seeking experience in scene and character work are encouraged to attend Footlighters March workshop, “Acting 201: Working the Basics”. This four-part course, taught by award-winning Inland Empire actresses, Deborah McFatter and Buffy Guzenski, will provide experience in scenework, monologues and character development through improv, games and performance. The workshops, held four consecutive Saturday mornings, 9:30 am to noon, March 8-29, cost is $40 for Footlighters members and $60 for non-members.  

Deadline for registration is March 1st.

Actors needed for “standardized patients”

Are you available during the day?  You may be able to use your acting skills to work with medical, pharmacy, or veterinary students.  Western University in Pomona has an ongoing search for actors of all ages to be standardized patients. These jobs are ongoing and actors (both men and women) of all ages are constantly needed for these weekday jobs.  The program includes roles for ages 8 to 70, but is especially interested in men 45 to 50 years old.  Some of the jobs are two hours, some five, and some reoccurring throughout the year.  Pay is $15 to $20 an hour.
