RCC’s Performance Riverside and Marching Tigers Team up with Saturn of Riverside for a Brand New Holiday Musical, Hollydazzle!

For three days in December, Performance Riverside will transport audiences from the hustle and bustle of an old-fashioned parade down Main Street, USA to the whirls and twirls of the North Pole with Hollydazzle!, a brand new holiday family musical presented by Saturn of Riverside. Hollydazzle! features some of Performance Riverside’s finest stars, and the world famous Riverside Community College Marching Tigers under the direction of Gary Locke. This magical adventure, filled with warmth, joy and laughter, is produced by Rey O’Day, directed and choreographed by John Vaughan, and musically directed by Scott T. Smith, with a script by Christopher Leonard and musical arrangements by Douglas Austin.

As Hollydazzle! whisks us off to Main Street, USA on Christmas Eve, little Tommy Fairchild, who loves marching bands more than anything, dreams of a gift of a drum from Santa for Christmas. Tommy is magically transported to Santa’s Toy Shop, where he meets delightful elves of the North Pole.  He even meets the Mayor of the North Pole himself, Santa Claus, who teaches him that when all is said and done, it is the music in your heart that is most important.
 
Saturn of Riverside, a proud member of the Hendrick Automotive Group, opened in the Riverside Auto Center in 2003.  They are committed to making a difference through community outreach initiatives and partnerships.  For example, they host an annual holiday celebration “Christmas for the Kids” where they work through the Homeless Services Division for the Riverside Unified School District to provide 60 children with special “wish list” gifts and a Christmas lunch that transforms the Saturn Showroom into a winter wonderland (complete with a visit from Santa Claus himself).  “All in all,” General Sales Manager, Raymond Herrera remarked, “it is a great day…the highlight of the year for many of us!”
 
Joining Performance Riverside for the first time are the RCC Marching Tigers and accompanying Fantasia dance/drill. The band has played at such high-profile events as the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the London Millennium Parade, and the Paris Millennium Parade. Referred to as “Hollywood’s Band,” the Marching Tigers have appeared in television commercials for Peugeot, Aloha Airlines, Wendy’s, and the Riverside Auto Center, in major motion pictures including Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, My Blue Heaven, Hero, Wag the Dog, The Truman Show, The Other Sister, American Pie 2 and on “America’s Funniest Home Videos”.
