Theatrical Arts International, Inc. will hold local auditions (non-union) for the production of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias. 

Auditions will be held on December 14th at 7:30pm at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts, located at 562 W. Dir. Joseph Henson is looking for local talent of the highest quality to audition for this amazing comedy-drama.  Steel Magnolias is best known for the film starring Dolly Parton (Truvy Jones), Olympia Dukakis (Clairee Belcher), Shirley MacLaine (Ouiser Boudreaux), Sally Field (M’Lynn Eatenton), Julia Roberts (Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie), and Daryl
Hannah (Annelle Dupuy-Desoto). The film received a 1990 Oscar nomination.

Rehearsals start in San Bernardino on January 12, 2007.  The show opens Jan 26, 2007.  There is pay.

Breakdown:

• Truvy Jones – 40ish. Owner of the beauty shop.
• Annelle Dupuy-Desoto - 19. Beauty shop assistant.
• Shelby Eatenton – Latcherie – 25. Prettiest girl in town.
• M’Lynn Eatenton – 50ish. Shelby’s mother. Socially prominent career woman.
• Ouiser Boudreaux - 66ish. Wealthy curmudgeon. Acerbic but loveable.
• Clariee Belcher- 66ish. Widow of former mayor. Grande Dame.

Note:  The women in this play are witty, intelligent, and above all, real characters. They are in no way meant to be portrayed as cartoons or caricatures.
