Sturges Center seeks Executive Director

The Sturges Center for Arts is seeking an Executive Director who will raise funds through grants and contributions to enable the venue to meet the cultural needs of the community and to provide administrative and a new managerial direction for the organization.

The Executive Director will administer current grants and building improvements; be the “face of Sturges” in the community; create and administer the budget; create, produce and follow through with Fund Raising projects and events; create and supervise a long term PR and Marketing plan; negotiate all contracts; supervise the day to day operation of the venue; work closely with the Board of Directors. Major building upgrades both technically and structurally are currently being planned. Applicant should have significant experience managing a non-profit arts organization and in securing grants and fund raising.  Degree in Arts Administration or related field preferred.  Salary commensurate with background and experience.  Submissions and additional information contact Bud Coffey at 909.384.5133 or coffey_bu@sbcity.org. PROFILE 

The Sturges Center for Arts in San Bernardino, CA, was founded in 1987 to preserve the historic Sturges Auditorium building and to offer a venue for all ages to experience and participate in arts & cultural activities. The building has a 743 seat theatre with full stage.  The original Foundation was re-structured in January of 2007 and is now a three-way partnership with the City of San Bernardino, the San Bernardino School District and Cal State San Bernardino.  The venue currently rents to promoters who present plays, musicals, pageants, children’s theatre, recitals, meetings, community concerts, lectures, etc.
