Now Auditioning Cowboys and Chorus Girls for Performance Riverside’s Will Rogers Follies
Performance Riverside is holding open-call auditions for Will Rogers Follies: A Life in Revue on December 11th, 2006 in Riverside City College’s Landis Auditorium. Children’s auditions are at 5:30pm, and adults will be auditioned at 7pm. Will Roger Follies breathes life into the legend of the great American hero and humorist Will Rogers, with all the flash and dazzle of the Ziegfeld Follies! Performance dates are February 8-18, 2007. The show will be directed and choreographed by John Vaughan, with musical direction by Don Le Master. Performers will be paid.
Will Rogers Follies is a heavy dance show. Most characters need to have dance experience. Women should have tap experience. Performance Riverside is casting the following roles:
- Betty Rogers: Strong singer/actress with a mezzo-belt. Age 30-50. Warm, down-to-earth quality with sparks of playfulness, vulnerability and the ability to break out into a torch song when needed.
- Clem Rogers: Will’s father — Strong Character actor/singer who moves well. Age- 40-70. Clem is rough and tumble with a heart of gold, must handle comedy well.
- Ziegfeld’s Favorite: Lead chorus girl – strong actress/singer/dancer. Tall, leggy and slender, Ziegfeld’s Favorite is a showgirl with great comic timing. All ethnicities encouraged.
- Wranglers: Four men- excellent singers with excellent “barbershop” harmony skills. Must tap some and move well. Tall, wiry, cowboy types preferred. All ethnicities encouraged. Age 20-40.
- Chorus Women: Seeking twelve tall, slender showgirls with tap, jazz and singing abilities. All ethnicities encouraged. Age 18-35.
- Will’s Children: Seeking three boys and one girl to play Will’s children. Must move and sing well. Age 7 to 15, casting primarily dependent upon height in comparison to others cast.
The roles of Will Rogers and Wiley Post have been cast.
Children will be seen at 5:30 and taught a song and dance number. Adults will need to prepare 32 bars of sheet music, and be ready for a dance audition. Some pay provided. For more information, visit www.performanceriverside.org, or call (951) 222-8485.
