Laughter on the 23rd Floor opens at Redlands Footlighters
Redlands Footlighters opens their 61st season with Neil Simon’s Laughter on the 23rd Floor, directed by Mark Allen Everett. This classic comedy, by one of the country’s most popular playwrights, opens Thursday, September 7th and runs through September 24.
This Broadway hit is Neil Simon’s homage to his early days in show business we he worked for Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows. The writers try to top each other with one-liners and sight gags while competing for the attention of head madman Max Prince, the star of The Max Prince Show. Meanwhile, Max is fighting with the network brass whom fear his humor is too sophisticated for middle America.
Laughter on the 23rd Floor features a wonderful cast of local performers including Ralph Griffey, Susan Boldt, and Clark Coffey of Redlands, Anthony Harris and John Shannon of Riverside, Spencer Mansouri of Rancho Cucamonga, Kevin Bray of Corona, Jeffrey Holland of Moreno Valley, and Sharon Holderness of Colton.
The play runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., September 8 through 24. Tickets are $14, students $10, and can be reserved by calling the box office at 909-793-2909. The theatre is located at 1810 Barton Road in Redlands. Season tickets are still available for purchase before the show and during intermissions.
