“Popcorn, Peanuts, Pop Stars, and Heroes!”  Performance Riverside’s 2006-2007 Broadway Series has it all!  Damn Yankees, Dreamgirls, Will Rogers Follies:  A Life in Review, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!, and Man of La Mancha.

The first inning, Damn Yankees, opens September 15, 2006.  Teaming the Faust myth with baseball lore scored Damn Yankees ten Tony Awards in 1956, including Best Musical. It’s filled with such favorites as “Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets,” “Steam Heat,” and “You’ve Gotta Have Heart.”   With a Broadway revival in 1994 featuring Bebe Neuwirth, and a 1996 tour featuring Jerry Lewis, this show has proven its staying power repeatedly.

Dreamgirls runs November 10-19, 2006. Based loosely on the story of Diana Ross and “The Supremes” and the music of the 1960s and early 70s, Dreamgirls won six Tony Awards in 1982. It will be released in December as a major motion picture featuring Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy, and American Idol’s Jennifer Hudson!

Will Rogers Follies:  A Life in Review is a wonderful depiction of the great American hero and humorist Will Rogers. The show has all the flash and dazzle of the Ziegfield Follies!  In 1991, the original production won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Costume and Lighting Designers, Director of a Musical, and Choreographer.  Will Rogers Follies runs February 9-18, 2007.

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! is the Tony Award-winning musical story of Charlie Brown and his Peanuts gang.  Revised for its Broadway revival in 1999, Sally Brown joins Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and Snoopy in this new version. Two new songs, “Beethoven Day” and “My New Philosophy,” are added to the wonderful numbers “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “The Baseball Game,”  ”Suppertime,” and “Happiness.”   Charlie Brown runs March 31-April 8, 2007, closing with a special matinee performance on Easter Sunday.

In Man of La Mancha, 17th century poet Miguel de Cervantes is brought to prison to await a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. Cervantes presents a play as his defense, with his actors as the jury in the play. Cervantes plays Alhonso Quiana, a man who has set his own reality aside and become the heroic Don Quixote de la Mancha. This classic tale features “The Impossible Dream,” the unforgettable “Dulcinea,” “Little Bird, Little Bird,” and “Knight of the Woeful Countenance.””  La Mancha is the season finale, opening on June 8, 2007.
