What does an American literary classic, a Tony Award-winning play, and a 5-time Academy Award-winning movie have in common?  They share the same nest… a cuckoo’s nest.  Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, comes to Murrieta on May 13th.  Featuring the iconic R.P. McMurphy and the infamous Nurse Ratched, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a story of the human spirit that gains poignancy with each passing year.

This is director Coley O’Brien McAvoy’s third appearance at the helm with Murrieta Repertory Theatre.  He directed the 2005 season closer, Deathtrap, which just received 5 nominations for the 2005 Inland Theatre League Awards.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest features an award-winning cast, with performances by Jim Marbury, Alisa Lovas, Gabriel Morales, Lodi Zubko, Scott Narver, Howard Patterson, Daniel Baca, Brandon Dean, and Michael Eastman.  The show will be performed on a three quarter thrust stage, with audience members sitting within the set of the mental ward.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is playing at the Murrieta Community Center, located at 41810 Juniper Street in Old Town Murrieta.  Performances are on Saturday nights, May 13th, 20th and 27th at 7:30pm, and Sunday matinees, May 14th, May 21st and 28th at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students, and can be purchased at the door.  Due to limited seating, advance reservations are recommended, and can be made by calling the MRT Box Office, 951-600-7273.
