Redlands Footlighters announces auditions for Bullshot Crummond for May 8 and 9, 2006.

3 males and 2 females are required. One male plays multiple characters. The age range for the men is mid 30s to 50s and the female cast members should be in their late 20s to early 40s. One man and one woman will require German accents. The rest of the cast will need English accents.

Bullshot Crummond is a wild romp through the oh-so very British countryside of the 1930s. A farcical melodrama, “Bullshot” parodies the low-budget detective movies and radio shows of that era. Every expected plot device of the genre is utilized and exploited with hilarious results to the delight of the audience. Even the name of the title character is a parody. One famous detective from books and films of the ’30s was the very tenacious “Bulldog Drummond”.

Here we have “Bullshot”, a much more bumbling sort, but never-the-less a successful chap, though certainly a questionable role model for British heroism. Fighting the evil Huns who have kidnapped a brilliant English professor, Bullshot stalwartly battles every imaginable foe who is thrust in his path. Our accidental hero gives his all in order to free the professor, save his formula for synthetic diamonds, and to win the heart of the professor’s lovely English rose of a daughter. The end result is what’s promised in the movies. After all, he’s British!
