Redlands Footlighters presents Sylvia
REDLANDS, CA – Redlands Footlighters Theater, celebrating its 60th season as a community playhouse for theatrical productions, presents “Sylvia”. The popular “canine” play opens Thursday, March 9-23, 2006. Directed by Tamara Griffey, “Sylvia” is a well-known play that everyone will enjoy.
It is a modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog. Greg and Kate, a couple at a relationship crossroad, have just moved to Manhattan, Their kids are off to college and Greg’s career is winding down while Kate’s is beginning to blossom. Greg begins his mid-life crisis by bringing home Sylvia, a dog he found in the park. Or did Sylvia find him? The street-wise pooch becomes a diversion to Greg but a rival to his wife. A series of hilarious and touching complications drives a wedge between the couple until they learn to compromise, and Sylvia the dog becomes a valued part of their lives.
Long-time director, Tamara Griffey, has extensive experience in directing and acting in the theater, from England to the stage at Footlighters Theater. Her theatrical resume includes, just to name a few; “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, “James and the Giant Peach”, “All in the Timing”, and the most recent play she directed at Footlighters, “The Dining Room”.
“Sylvia” performances are: Opening night, Thursday, March 9th @8pm, and Friday & Saturday nights March 10-11, 17-18, 24-25 at 8pm, and Sunday Matinees March 12, 19, 26 at 2pm.
