The Rialto Community Players will hold additional open auditions for the musical ONCE UPON A MATTRESS Monday, February 14, 2006, at 7:00 PM.

ALL ROLES ARE OPEN. Ages 18 and up (15 to 20 roles).
Auditions will consist of singing; bring music in your key; prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo or comic number, accompaniment will be provided; cold readings from the script; and movement, please dress in clothes you can move in (no flip flops or sandals).

Please remember this is a fairytale/fantasy all auditioners should have excellent comic timing.

To reach the Rialto Playhouse, take the I-10 freeway, exit Riverside Avenue, go north approximately 3/4 of a mile. The theatre is located on the corner of Riverside and San Bernardino Avenues in the city of Rialto. The address of the theater is 150 East San Bernardino Avenue, Rialto, CA.

Casting for:

PRINCESS WINIFRED (FRED): Straight from the swamps, must have excellent comic and physical timing and a good strong musical belt.

PRINCE DAUNTLESS THE DRAB: Under the thumb of his mother, ready to break away once Winifred arrives. Must have excellent comic and physical timing and a good strong musical belt.

THE MINSTRAL: Narrates the story and makes comment on the entire proceedings. Must move well and have a strong baritone.

QUEEN AGRAVAINE: The overpowering mother of dauntless and master of the entire court. Must have a strong musical comedy belt.

KING SEXTIMUS: A very Harpo Marx kind of presentation. Needs excellent mime skills and physical comic timing. Mime’s all his portions of the songs.

SIR HARRY: The hero. Larkin’s love interest. Very earnest if somewhat befuddled. Over the top leading man type. Strong baritone.

LADY LARKIN: In love with Harry and expecting. She is sweet and lovely. Soprano, high alto.

THE JESTER: A good friend and co-conspirator of the king. Dance background helpful. A Gene Kelly type of voice.

THE WIZARD: A good friend and co-conspirator of the queen. Must be able to carry a tune and possess excellent comic timing.

Also looking for three people to dance a ballet at the beginning of the show, knights and ladies, Princess #12, and the Nightengale of Samircand. Everyone cast will be given plenty to do.
